So grateful for the the opportunity to connect with Light Watkins and share his interview with you all. Light has been operating in the meditation space for over 15 years. He is based in Santa Monica, CA and travels the world teaching everyone from bankers, artists, politicians to CEOs, caretakers, and comedians how to meditate in a self-sufficient way.
Light Watkins has taught meditation to roughly 2,000 people. He is the author of "The Inner Gym" book series; the first volume of which has been released, and the rest are coming. Light is a regular contributor to mindbodygreen.com and has given a TEDx talk titled "Debunking The 5 Most Common Meditation Myths". In 2014, he founded The Shine Movement in Los Angeles. It is his passion to introduce others to a practice that he has personally benefited from in every area of life.
How are you serving the world and contributing your gifts?
I help people find happiness inside where it truly resides and I do that through meditation and inner practices, inspiration through the Shine, writing, etc.
What was the pivotal experience that led you to practicing and teaching meditation?
Meeting my teacher. I was inspired by the fact that he embodied the happiness that I was seeking.
What was your inspiration with the Shine?
It was the inspiration itself. It ties along with the quote by Emerson,
about creating an experience built by people for each person to be who they know they can be.
What is the one quality you want to be remembered by during this life?
That I left the world a better place then when I found it.
What does living wholly mean to you?
Living in alignment with nature, being inclusive, being socially and environmentally responsible.

What has been the most challenging experience in your life that turned out to be the most meaningful opportunity to your life's path?
Being rejected as a model when I worked in fashion. I got rejected a lot, but it helped me develop thick skin and learn to not let anything stand in the way of following my heart.

What music are you currently listening to?
I listen to a lot of stand up comedy when I work out. When I listen to music though it is usually Kanye West.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
I would go to South America, because I have never been there.

That you're never alone.
